Volunteer at the hosptial
Volunteers have a special place in the Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital family. They are the friendly smile, the helping hand, the compassionate listener for our patient and our team members. They are the heart of our Martha Jefferson Caring Tradition!
How volunteers make an impact
Volunteers welcome visitors at our front desks, serve on numerous committees and boards, and raise valuable funds to provide an unmatched margin of care for our community. They support every our patients and staff in every aspect of Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital’s operations.
The Women’s Committee A sisterhood of care
The Women’s Committee of Martha Jefferson Hospital raises thousands of dollars annually to advance the health and wellbeing of women in our community. They make possible programs and services to ensure no woman ever walks alone through the hard road of breast cancer diagnosis, treatment and recovery.
TWC impact
The Women’s Committee makes an impact through annual fundraising events including In The Pink Tennis and Pickleball and the beloved Martha’s Market as well as programs geared towards women's health. From free breast health screening days serving 200 women annually to wigs, scarves and educational resources to help women on their cancer journey, TWC-funded programs are a lifeline for women and families during some of the toughest moments of their lives.
