We are Magnet with Distinction!
In December 2025, Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital was thrilled to receive its fifth Magnet® designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, this time with the extra recognition of Magnet with Distinction. This highest national honor distinguishes healthcare organizations that meet rigorous standards of nursing excellence and patient care. Fewer than 1% of hospitals nationwide have maintained consecutive Magnet designation for 20 years, as Sentara Martha Jefferson has done.
It truly takes a village to earn Magnet designation even once, let alone five times. This milestone accomplishment speaks to the strength of our Sentara Martha Jefferson community, both within the hospital and beyond our walls. With that in mind, we're sharing a few images from our Magnet celebration.
